"Views on... Visit with the Curator”, with David Santos, curator of the exhibition and Scientific Director of the Museum of Neo-Realism
Cascais Municipality Day | June 7 and September 13 | 3pm
General public, from 10 years old | 60 minutes | Up to 20 people

As part of the Involve You program, the Cultural and Educational Service is offering a talk with the curator of the exhibition “Assault on the Summer Palace - The Collection of the Museum of Neo-Realism”, on June 7 and September 13, highlighting two dates during the exhibition: the celebration of Municipal Day and the last weekend of this collection in Cascais.

During the tour, we will learn more about the curator's choices, which reflect an era in which the visual arts appeal to ideas of resistance, action and progress.

During this visit, we will also discuss the dialogue established with some of the photographs from the project “The Human Family” chosen by Jorge Calado, which are part of the collection of the Museum of Neo-Realism, an international photography collection centered on the period between 1930 and 1960.

The D. Luís I Foundation, in collaboration with Cascais City Council, and the Museum of Neo-Realism, in collaboration with Vila Franca de Xira City Council, are presenting Assalto ao Palácio de Verão, an exhibition of paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs from the museum's collection, at the Palácio da Cidadela Exhibition Gallery.

From April 24 to September 14, works by Júlio Pomar, Mário Dionísio, Maria Barreira, Manuel Ribeiro de Pavia, Alice Jorge, Victor Palla, Querubim Lapa, Nuno San-Payo, Cipriano Dourado, Luís Dourdil, Hansi Steal and Dorindo de Carvalho, among many other artists, will be exhibited as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of April 25, which have been taking place in Cascais for about a year.

Over the next few months, residents and visitors will be able to see pieces by Portuguese and foreign artists “who, over a long period of the 20th century, raised awareness through manifestations of rebellion which, through their different proposals, challenged the idea of monolithism of which they were accused”, reveals the President of the D. Luís I Foundation. Luís I Foundation, which manages the programming of the Museum Quarter, home to the emblematic Citadel Palace, a monumental space chosen by King Luís I, patron of the Foundation, and his son King Carlos, for the royal family to spend part of the summer.
