Printmaking Workshop | Linocut - Carving and Printing Techniques
Discover linocut printmaking in this hands-on workshop led by master printmaker João Cochofel at Casa Reynaldo dos Santos e Irene Virote Quilhó dos Santos, in Parede, on the Cascais coast.
The workshop opens with an illustrated introduction to linocut. It covers some of the artists who have worked in the technique, as well as the materials and tools involved.
Participants then design and prepare their own image on one or two blocks, ready to be printed in one or more colours. Exercises explore the contrast between white-line and black-line techniques.
The workshop is open to young people and adults aged 18 and over. It runs over five three-hour sessions on 11, 14, 16, 17 and 18 December, from 10h00 to 13h00. Groups are small, with 3 to 4 participants, and all materials and equipment are included.
