Readings on the Farm - Cascais Municipal Library's Community of Readers
A new community of readers has formed at the Municipal Library of Cascais - Casa da Horta da Quinta de Santa Clara. The first participants, who met in June 2024, in what was marked as session 0, named this community of readers “Leituras na Quinta”, which meets on the third Thursday of every month. Manuel Nunes - who has also been in charge of the S. Domingos de Rana Municipal Library's Community of Readers for around 18 years - is in charge of organizing it.
Is women's writing distinct from men's? Does a female novelist/container carry thematic elements inevitably connected to her gender into her literary works? Or are the major universal issues present in both men's and women's texts? It is with these questions in mind that we propose reading the following works in the first semester of 2025, under the motto EVA'S WRITINGS:
January 16 - The Valley of Passion, by Lídia Jorge
February 20 - In the Ogre's Garden, by Leïla Slimani
March 20th - The Pediatrician, by Andréa del Fuego
April 17th - Jezabel, by Irène Némirovsky
May 15 - Melancholically Mad People, by Teresa Veiga
Date to be set in June - Greek Lessons, by Han Kang
