Readings on the Farm - Cascais Municipal Library's Community of Readers
A new community of readers is being formed at the Municipal Library of Cascais - Casa da Horta da Quinta de Santa Clara. The first participants, who met on June 20, '24, in what was marked as session 0, named this community of readers “Leituras na Quinta” (Readings at the Farm), which will meet on the third Thursday of each month. Manuel Nunes - who has also been responsible for the Community of Readers at the S. Domingos de Rana Municipal Library for around 18 years - is in charge of organizing it.
The first three sessions take place under the motto POR ESSES RIOS ACIMA, dedicated to a series of novels in which rivers play a fundamental role in the construction of the narrative plots. The fourth session takes place under the motto WORDS OF POETRY.
July 18 - “The Jungle”, by Ferreira de Castro;
September 19 - “O Velho que Lia Romances de Amor”, by Luís Sepúlveda;
October 17 - “Heart of Darkness”, by Joseph Conrad;
November 21 - “O Guardador de Rebanhos”, by Pessoa's heteronym Alberto Caeiro.
