Duarte Pinto Coelho Collections
The D. Luรญs I Foundation, with the support of Cascais City Council and the Duques de Soria Foundation for Science and Hispanic Culture, is bringing together for the first time in a single exhibition pieces of various themes from the collections of the renowned Portuguese decorator and collector Duarte Pinto Coelho. The exhibition will be on display from May 10 at the Casa Duarte Pinto Coelho (the Conde de Castro Guimarรฃes Museum), located in the heart of Cascais' Museum District. Admission is free.ย
The Duarte Pinto Coelho Collections are made up of five sections - Marqueterie, from the 17th to the 19th centuries; Neapolitan Volcanoes, from the 18th to the 20th centuries; Liturgical vestments, from the 18th to the 20th centuries; Nuns' Lavors, from the 19th century and Painted Glass from the Red Room - from a vast collection of pieces dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries and coming from countries such as Spain, Italy, England, Holland, Japan or France. It was built up over several decades and stands out for its variety, quality, quantity and the aesthetic and refined taste of the Portuguese decorator.ย
The pieces will be available to visit successively at Casa Duarte Pinto Coelho, with a program managed by the D. Luรญs I Foundation.
