ESTORIL FOLK FEST 2026
The Estoril Folk Fest returns to the stage of the Salão Preto e Prata at the Estoril Casino on November 28, 2026, with a focus on polyphonic singing.
Vitorino, a renowned singer from the Alentejo and a leading figure in traditional Alentejo music, will headline this edition in a tribute to his 50-year career. On stage, he will be joined by the Cantadores de Redondo, a group of which he is a founding member.
Also taking the stage at the Salão Preto e Prata will be the Moçoilas, a female vocal group that brings us the soul of the Algarve through their harmonies.
Arouca is this year’s guest region and will be represented through the exhibition “Convento de Arouca e Rainha Santa Mafalda,” which will serve as the theme for the Festival’s opening with a panel discussion that will highlight the importance of the Convent and Queen Santa Mafalda to the cultural identity of this region.
Representing the region’s women’s polyphonic singing tradition, a group of 70 women will take the stage to perform several “Cantas” from the traditional Arouca songbook.
It is worth noting that this polyphonic singing tradition is currently in the process of being nominated for inclusion on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.
