Conversations with the Kids: 1st “Traços de Humor” Exhibition, by Álvaro
This exhibition offers a glimpse into a diverse generation of kids—students of Descriptive Geometry—who, in just a few years, will be working, standing in line at the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training, voting, dictating what’s shown on TV, and uncritically and blindly believing the manipulative rhetoric of poorly educated people they see on television and social media—and, importantly, these are the very people who will be paying for our retirement.
Álvaro was born in 1970. In elementary school, he dabbled in math and drew little figures. In high school, he dabbled in geometry and drew little figures. In college, he drew little figures. Later, in his professional career—in the noble art of licensing and legalization projects—he drew little figures. Gradually, he left that activity—which was on the fringes of the law—and began teaching vocational training courses and tutoring in Descriptive Geometry. Currently, he teaches people how to draw stick figures. He has published several books featuring stick figures, some of which (the books, not the stick figures) have won awards.
