25th anniversary of the Cascais Municipal Library - Casa da Horta da Quinta de Santa Clara
On January 25, 2026, the Cascais Municipal Library โ Casa da Horta da Quinta de Santa Clara will celebrate 25 years of serving the population and culture of the municipality of Cascais. Join us in celebrating this quarter century dedicated to books and reading, knowledge, and democratized access to information.ย
To commemorate this milestone, we will organize several initiatives that express the history and cultural value of the Library and its dynamic relationship with the people of Cascais. We highlight January 24, with the Library's doors open from 10:00 a.m. to midnight, on a day full of special moments, and January 25, with activities until 10:30 p.m.
At 5:00 p.m. on January 25, we hope you will join us in singing Happy Birthday to the Library, with the traditional blowing out of candles and cutting of the birthday cake.
Throughout the year, we will offer a diverse range of activities for all ages, free of charge, with the events detailed below being particularly noteworthy.

A Christmas Carol Sung | Concert performance by MonsLuna Ensemble
January 8 at 9 p.m.
Inspired by Charles Dickens' work, we will follow the fantastic journey of Scrooge, the most famous miser and curmudgeon in literature. Between the engaging narration and the vocal harmonies of the trio, each moment of the story gains color and emotion.

Fernando Pessoa(s) | Show by the duo Estรณrias com Asas
January 15 at 9 p.m.
We will start with โMensagemโ and other texts by Fernando Pessoa to reflect on our past and present, outlining paths for the future. Through dialogue between heteronyms and love letters, we will reflect on various themes inherent to the human condition and so present in Pessoa's work, such as restlessness, nonconformity, dreams, and reality.

Tango Abrazo | Performance (Statue Woman) by Lydia Mรผller
January 24 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
A living statue alluding to tango waits silently for the partner of her dreams, an embrace, or a smile from the audience. Playing with stillness and movement, with her charm and the appeal of music, from one moment to the next, this statue may surprise and invite visitors to dance or embrace her.
Lydia Mรผller, a German dancer and artist who has been living in Portugal for seven years, develops children's dance-theater pieces, educational workshops, and animations.

Accordion Book - narratives in folds | Visual Arts Workshops by Raquel Silva

With these workshops, we aim to introduce participants to the world of book objects, promoting the intersection between visual arts, creative illustration, and handmade graphic design in an intergenerational, informal, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

Living Statue of Fernando Pessoa | Performance by artist Vitor Hugo Almeida
January 25 at 3:00 p.m.
Inspired by the iconic poet Fernando Pessoa, Vรญtor Hugo Almeida will bring to life a surprising living statue in a performance that goes far beyond immobility. Together with Cรกtia Ferreira, he forms the artistic performance duo โStrapafourd โ Art Alive,โ part of the Orgรขnica.mente association. In 2019, they achieved international recognition by winning the World Championship of Living Statues in the Netherlands with their creation โO Beijoโ (The Kiss).
