Community Project ... EVA Cartonera
We accepted the challenge of collaborating on a manual and creative publishing projectโthe construction of handmade booksโinspired by the cartoneras publishing movement in Latin America.
In Portugal, the project is called EVA Cartonera and, at Casa das Histรณrias Paula Rego, it opens a cycle of several collaborative production workshops between audiences of all backgrounds and interests, united by a common taste: stories, literature, and the manual construction of books. This initiative also promotes access to literature as a kind of democratization of the word, of ideas, and, at Casa das Histรณrias, of the museum as a place of creation and participation.
Last but not least, in connection with Paula Rego's work, the dialogue and participation are inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, when the artist took on the power of cutting and collage as a process of construction-destruction of the image, in its capacity as a visual metaphor (and scathing criticism). In September, we will explore the theme of Courage and in December we will focus on the theme of Trust.
In October, between exhibitions and as part of the museum's temporary exhibition on the work of Ana Torrie, O inferno sรฃo os outros (Hell is other people), we will hold two working sessions dedicated to the theme of Hope.
- September 20 and 27, based on Paula Rego's work on Courage
- October 18 and 25, based on Ana Torrie's visual exhibition on Hope
- December 13 and 27, returning to Paula Rego's work on Trust
- From 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. | Ages 16 and up | Up to 15 people (per workshop consisting of two sessions)
