Description

The Cascais Cultural Center presents the exhibitionA Deslocação do Olhar (The Shift of the Gaze), which showcases an unprecedented selection from the important Américo Marques Contemporary Art Collection.

Curated by Sérgio Fazenda Rodrigues, the exhibition takes a careful approach to the works and artists represented in the collection, with an emphasis on painting and video.

Structured in three interconnected modules, Body/Object, Image Protocols, and Landscape, the exhibition brings together around thirty works by more than 20 Portuguese artists or artists with strong ties to the country, crossing generations and artistic approaches and promoting a dialogue between figuration and abstraction, between the visible and the suggested, to challenge perception and stimulate multiple readings.

Among the artists represented are leading names such as Julião Sarmento, Lourdes Castro, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, João Louro, Susana Mendes Silva, Pedro Calapez, Michael Biberstein, Ângelo de Sousa, and Fernando Calhau, confirming the collection's relevance in preserving and promoting contemporary artistic creation in Portugal and around the world.
