Wisdom Encounters: A Cycle of Inspiring Sharing - "Consciousness and Non-Duality of Parapsychological Phenomena to Enlightenment"
This event is part of the "Encounters of Wisdom" cycle, a project conceived and led by Maria da Conceição Valdez Telles de Menezes. The sixth Encounter will focus on "Consciousness and Non-Duality: From Parapsychological Phenomena to Enlightenment," an interactive lecture with Paulo Maia.
Over two hours, a different way of approaching spirituality will be proposed. The aim is to move beyond the individual-centered paradigm – usually used in explaining paranormal phenomena – to reach an understanding of the paradigm centered on Unity with the Whole, which forms the basis for understanding the so-called awakening of Enlightenment, or Unitive Consciousness.
The lecture will have a theoretical and a practical component. The theoretical part will primarily support Non-Duality and Parapsychology, essentially addressing the philosophies of Advaita Vedanta and Catholic Mysticism. The practical component will utilize various exercises: some with experiential purposes, such as contemplative techniques; others with illustrative purposes, such as mentalist techniques.
Paulo Maia is a Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Lecturer. He holds a degree in Health Psychology (2005) and a Master's degree (pre-Bologna) in Psychosomatics (2009) from I.S.P.A. He is certified in EMDR (neuropsychotherapeutic technique) by Imaginal (2005), the Portuguese Association of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and the Brazilian Association of EMDR (2008).
