Women in Greek Mythology | The Myths of the Abduction of Europa and Proserpina
The myths of the abduction of Europa and Proserpina, depicted in the tiles of Casa Verdades de Faria, illustrate the mechanisms of construction of the feminine in Greek mythology. Analysis of these figures allows us to understand not only the role attributed to women in mythical tradition, but also the cultural continuities that extend far beyond Antiquity.ย
The study of these representations invites a critical reading of the symbolic origins of gender inequalities and the persistence of certain narrative structures in contemporary Western culture.
