This is an exhibition about the Homelore project, a collective of migrant women who use embroidery to tell stories about Portugal, bringing together traditional techniques from their countries of origin.
The exhibition presents a set of works that intertwine memory, identity, and creation. The exhibition also follows the journey of Homelore itself, which began two years ago in a master's degree project by a Nova SBE student: how could the ancestral knowledge of women from the diaspora become a means for them to write their own stories through thread and needle?
What began as a small incubated project has evolved into a platform for creation and encounter in Lisbon, where different techniques, references, and experiences intersect, giving rise to new forms of cultural continuity and artistic expression.
