Paula Rego: Exemplary Girls and The Exile: From Creation to Preservation
Opening of two exhibitions dedicated to the work of the artist Paula Rego.
The exhibition Exemplary Girls,ย from room 1 to 6, refers to the female characters of Paula Rego. The return to childhood is always present in Paula Rego's work and is essential for the construction of a unique universe.
The exhibition in room 7, The Exile: From Creation to Conservation, makes visible what normally remains hidden, allowing visitors to follow the methods, decisions, and criteria that guide the preservation of a work over time, bringing the public closer to the behind-the-scenes aspects of research and conservation. For the first time in Portugal, a work by the artist โ from 1962-63, belonging to the Cascais Municipal Council Collection / FDLI / CHPR โ was the subject of an in-depth technical and material study, presented through images and detailed explanations โ a journey that culminates in the exhibition of the restored painting.
