Anton Bruckner - 200 years | Concert by the Cascais Symphony Orchestra
On the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner's birth, the Cascais Symphony presents “Symphony No. 3”, one of the Austrian composer's greatest works and a strong influence on the development of 20th century symphonic music.
Considered works of late Romanticism, Bruckner's symphonies were a major reference for the development of the language of harmony, the use of polyphony and the size of the work, having a huge impact on the writing and aesthetic advances of many composers who followed.
This concert is conducted by one of the great specialists in Brukner's work, conductor Thomas Sanderling, internationally renowned for his extraordinary skill and profound musical sensitivity and a career marked by his work with the world's greatest musical institutions.
