Exhibition "We Crossed the Mountain: Look at This!"
To celebrate International Museum Day, the Cascais Countryside Interpretation Center presents an exhibition alluding to the traditions of Trás-os-Montes and the Carnival of Podence, also known as "Entrudo chocalheiro," which is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
This small exhibition of masks from the Caretos de Podence, some original and others produced in a traditional way by students from Quinta do Lago College and the University of Manique Senior Academy (UniMa), also includes images by the renowned photographer Mário Sampaio.
The opening, taking place on May 18th from 2:30 PM onwards, will be animated by performances from students dressed as Caretos de Podence and Pauliteiros de Miranda, who will showcase reenactments of the artistic and performative expressions of these two Transmontanan groups. Join us on this festive day!
