Longing for the Future: Exhibition of dystopian cartoons by José Mendes
Between shattered utopias and present dystopias, these drawings seek to ask whether it is still possible to survive with a smile in a future that was once better. There were times when humanity dreamed of machines that would broaden our knowledge of the world and make our lives more comfortable and interesting. However, now that many of these machines exist, they contribute mainly to the alienation of individuals, the spread of ignorance and intolerance, and the corrosion of the foundations of social organization. How did the dream become a nightmare?
The author will be present on the opening and closing days of the exhibition to welcome the public and talk to visitors. In addition, on the remaining days of the exhibition, the author intends to be there to produce other drawings.
