Launch of the book "Guincho: A Flight of Stories"
In this book, authored by Margarida de Magalhães Ramalho and published by the Cascais Municipal Council, many untold stories are revealed about one of the most enchanting parts of our municipality, to the delight of all who hold Guincho in their memory and heart.
Guincho, one of the most iconic locations in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, preserves a natural heritage of exceptional value, marked by the force of the wind, the imposing sea, and the uniqueness of its dunes and cliffs. Sculpted by Nature, it was later inherited and refined by Man, who since time immemorial has occupied the coast between Boca do Inferno and Guincho, as evidenced by the Roman villa of Casais Velhos, the maritime fortifications, and the lighthouses, followed by some of the most famous restaurants in the municipality and even a hotel. Its history is thus made up of both terrible storms and shipwrecks, as well as memorable lunches or swims in the sea on sunny days.
This publication expands the available knowledge about a unique natural and cultural heritage, further reinforcing our commitment to its preservation, guided by the principles of sustainability and conscious and ethical enjoyment.
