Carlos Paredes, with the Trio Despertar
In celebration of the 101st anniversary of Carlos Paredes' birth, the Museum of Portuguese Music - Casa Verdades de Faria presents a concert by the Trio Despertar, in homage to this major figure of national culture, responsible for a profound renewal of the language of the Portuguese guitar and for the bridge he built between tradition, popular, classical and contemporary music.
Heir to a lineage of guitarists and a decisive influence on several generations, Paredes left a unique legacy that transcends genres and musical boundaries.
With Ângelo Santos (clarinet), Eduardo Baltar Soares (Portuguese guitar), Agustin Lassale (guitar) and Mariana Caldeira Pinto (narration), we celebrate in this concert a legacy that remains alive, open and always evolving.
In a narrated performance, these performers celebrate Carlos Paredes through various facets of Portuguese music. The program includes repertoire by Carlos Paredes and Gonçalo Paredes, alongside works by Pedro Caldeira Cabral, Alcino Frazão, and Fernando C. Lapa, with a commissioned piece inspired by the honoree's universe.
