Course “History with Bodies,” at the Paula Rego House of Stories
Inspired by the visual and symbolic universe of Paula Rego's work, the project Histórias com Corpo / História com Corpos (Stories with Body / History with Bodies) proposes a rapprochement between visual art and bodily expression through the creation of a choreographic journey and a participatory workshop aimed at women.
Based on the central themes present in Paula Rego's work—such as the female imagination, power and vulnerability, memory, intimacy, and the relationship between body and narrative—we invite participants and the public to a sensitive encounter between body, image, and history. An ongoing workshop aimed at women aged 18 to 99, offering a journey of discovery and personal expression through the body, stories, and images evoked by Paula Rego's works.
Throughout the sessions, we reflect on the role of the female body in the construction of identity, desire, fear, and freedom—themes that run through the artist's creativity. The workshop ends with a collective presentation during the period in which the exhibition The CHPR Collection in Dialogue with the Artist's Collection is on display.
