Fantastic Symphony, concert by the Cascais Symphony Orchestra
There is only one Symphonie Fantastique, and it belongs to French composer Hector Berlioz, a true revolutionary in symphonic music with this magnificent and programmatic work. Berlioz breaks the formal structure of the symphony, consisting of four movements, by presenting it with an extra movement. This piece, whose original title is Episode from the Life of an Artist, Fantastic Symphony in Five Parts, has a program written by Berlioz himself that indicated what the protagonist imagined in each movement of the work. For the author, the artist, under the influence of opium, has hallucinations, and these are translated into five situations indicated through the five movements. Don't miss this concert by the Cascais Symphony Orchestra.
