The MCCG furniture collection: eclecticism and revivalism
This month, the visit included in the Municipal Heritage Tour will be dedicated to the furniture collection of the Condes de Castro Guimarรฃes Museum. Consisting of around two hundred pieces resulting from donations and acquisitions, the collection stands out for its 17th to 19th century Portuguese furniture, which reveals the mastery of Portuguese carpenters and the quality of the wood, especially rosewood with its rich tones.ย
We will also have the opportunity to appreciate the results of contacts with Eastern exoticism, namely Indo-Portuguese furniture and Chinese lacquered furniture of rare beauty.
