Description

Discover Cascais' Roman past on a guided tour of two of its most important archaeological sites: the villae of Freiria and Casais Velhos.

From the 1st century AD onwards, around the then Roman city of "Felicitas Julia Olissipo" (Lisbon), the territory was extensively occupied by "villae," mostly dedicated to the exploitation of agricultural and livestock resources. These rural areas, which reached their peak in the 3rd century, reveal valuable evidence of life and territorial organization during the Roman era.

This visit is a unique opportunity to learn about the history and archaeological heritage of our municipality.
