Easter Concert by the OCCO - Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra
The OCCO (Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra) Easter Concert presents one of the best-known works of sacred music, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. An extremely popular piece, it was described by the writer J.J. Rousseau as “the most perfect and moving duet ever written by a composer.”
The program also features one of the most beautiful melodies of all time, taken from J.S. Bach’s famous St. Matthew Passion.
The concert concludes with a sonata by one of the great masters of the Baroque style, G. Muffat, a renowned organist and composer who played an important role in European cultural exchange.
