Description

Officially opened on July 12, 1931, the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum celebrates its 93rd anniversary in 2024.

Come and celebrate another anniversary of the dean of Cascais museums by taking part in the following activities we've prepared for you:

- July 12, at 4:30 p.m. - Conference "House museums in the context of Portuguese artistic collections", by Ana Anjos Mantua.

House museums, museum institutions of great symbolic value, can transmit simple messages to us, awakening memories and revealing individuals in their most intimate context, invoking them through their habits, objects and everyday spaces.
The act of collecting objects is primordial and has become a habit. This is how the "addiction" to collecting began, first in a domestic and intimate sphere and then beyond the front door and on public display.
In this conference, we will talk about two collectors, distant in space but not in time, who dedicated their lives to collecting artistic objects and with the same goal - to make their collections public for the enjoyment of their fellow citizens.

- July 13 at 4pm - Staged visit "An afternoon with the Counts of Castro Guimarães at their summer house", with the collaboration of the Palco13 Theater Company

In this visit, the hosts lead the participants through the house, while revealing details of their daily lives, family and friendship relationships and their main tastes, such as music, water sports, old books, art and travel.

Participation free of charge, subject to prior registration
