Description

In partnership with the Laboratory of History, Territories and Communities of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon, the Municipal Historical Archive of Cascais will hold the last of three conferences in the cycle dedicated to the issue of Freedom, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of April 25.

The Revolution of April 25, 1974 began a process of change in cultural policies, transforming the structures of the State and allowing citizens greater access to and participation in culture. With the end of censorship, there was a readjustment in cultural practices and a promotion of Portuguese culture, especially with regard to contemporary creation. It will therefore be in a relaxed and informal atmosphere that we will talk about the causes and consequences of a revolution that brought us freedom and democracy!

Note: “Mudou muito a minha rua” is the first verse of the lyrics of the fado “A minha rua”, written by Manuela de Freitas (1996), performed by Camané, included on the album “Na linha da vida” (1998), with musical production by José Mário Branco.
