Guided tour of Casa dos Lagares: Between Isolation and Work, the History of the Treading Floor
As part of the exhibition “Quinta do Pisão: History and Landscape,” we invite you to join a guided tour of the Casa dos Lagares museum complex on April 18, May 9, and June 20.
Casa dos Lagares, a historic complex featuring 17th- and 18th-century architecture, houses part of the collection from the former Mitra do Pisão, a forced internment facility that operated between 1940 and 1985.
Spanning three exhibition spaces—Casa do Lagar, Casa de Ligação, and Casa do Azeite—this tour reveals life stories, agricultural practices, and the social reality experienced in this region, marked by isolation, labor, and exclusion.
Through objects, photographs, and original artifacts, the tour invites reflection on the identity of the Pisão Social Support Center and on how the landscape still carries these memories today.
