“Judgment Day,” a piano recital by Luís Ribeiro
Luís Ribeiro, a young international pianist, presents a narrative program in two chapters that depicts the journey toward “Judgment Day.”. The recital begins with works by Haydn, Chopin, and Ronald Stevenson, in which the certainty of reality dissolves into the sea, setting in motion a supernatural journey from Rachmaninoff’s “Tableau Studies” to Liszt’s final, ferocious chase.
A program brimming with symbolism, mythology, stories, and fairy tales, offering a pure embodiment of a programmatic, musical, and immersive experience. The recital features improvisation and narration by the pianist himself.

Luís Ribeiro
He is a young Portuguese pianist and composer, a student at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) under Murray McLachlan. At age 16, he made his solo debut with the Orquestra Clássica da Metropolitana at the Belém Cultural Center. Since then, he has won awards in more than ten national and international competitions. He has performed in three countries and was a guest artist at the Óbidos International Piano Week and Chetham’s International Piano Summer School. In 2026, he conceived and conducted his semi-improvised chamber opera based on the short story *George* by Maria Judite de Carvalho.
