Traces of the Past, at the Village Museum
Inspired by one of the most iconic prehistoric artefacts discovered in what is now the municipality of Cascais – the schist slab – this art workshop promises a journey back in time, reviving the experiences, beliefs and manual and artistic practices of our most distant ancestors.
Discovered at the iconic Alapraia Necropolis, this artefact transports us to the sacred and divine world of the Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic communities that once inhabited our region. Using engraving and painting techniques, the great challenge is to reimagine and recreate, with your own hands, this precious treasure from Cascais’ history.
As part of the 2026 European Heritage Days, dedicated to the theme “Heritage at risk: revive, resist, reimagine”, the Vila Museum is organising an art workshop open to all visitors on 23 September, from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm.
