"Sopros e Guitarradas" - a Concert by Kajó Soares
"Sopros e Guitarradas" is the debut album of guitarist and saxophonist Kajó Soares, marking his first venture as both singer and lyricist. Presented at the Senhora da Boa Nova Auditorium, this concert brings together the tradition of fado and the sounds of the saxophone, blending instrumental music with fado vocals in a performance defined by diversity, innovation and artistic expression.
Leading a collective of musicians and artists, Kajó Soares is joined by special guests Gustavo (voice and viola), Carolina Varela Ribeiro, Felipe Núncio (Portuguese guitar), Gonçalo Cercas (bass) and musician Luís Roquette.
Kajó Soares is a Portuguese musician (saxophone, Portuguese guitar and vocals) from Reguengos de Monsaraz. He began his musical training at Sociedade Filarmónica Harmonia Reguenguense and later studied at renowned institutions such as Hot Clube de Portugal and Berklee College of Music (Valencia), where he focused on saxophone and developed a strong interest in improvisation and world music.
Alongside his academic studies in Management, he pursued the study of the Portuguese guitar under the guidance of masters such as António Chainho, Sidónio Pereira and Luís Ribeiro.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous artists, including António Chainho, Lucky Duckies, António Pinto Basto, Vitorino, Teresa Tapadas and Jorge Fernando, among others. In 2026, he was nominated for the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) in the Fado category with the song “A Minha Paixão”, receiving recognition for his interpretative creativity and the quality of his work.
