Hell is other people, by Ana Torrie
The D. Luรญs I Foundation, with the support of Cascais Municipal Council, is presenting the exhibition Hell is Others, by Portuguese artist Ana Torrie. The exhibition takes place as part of the Bairro dos Museus program and is part of the cycle of temporary exhibitions in room 0 of the Casa das Histรณrias Paula Rego, dedicated to linking the Museum's Collection with contemporary artistic production that intersects with Paula Rego's universe. The exhibition runs from May 16 to October 26. It is curated by Catarina Alfaro and Ana Torrie.ย
Ana Torrie challenges the traditional conventions of printmaking with works that gain complexity as they are presented in different ways in different contexts and evolve from simple graphic installations, gaining a sculptural dimension, sometimes accompanied by a sound component.
O inferno sรฃo os outros displays large-scale matrices (wood, linoleum) as centerpieces and graphic sculptures, a living body that shows in its textures the engraving process as a performative act capable of expressing the marks, history and emotion of the creative act. They are visual attractions that transport you to the atmosphere of an amusement park, in a labyrinth of multiple choices that encourage the viewer to go through various portals.ย
