Guided tour: THE GIL VICENTE THEATRE
As part of the 2024 European Heritage Days, this year under the theme “Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections”, we will visit the Gil Vicente Theatre, inaugurated on September 19, 1869, on the initiative of Manuel Rodrigues Lima.
This visit to the oldest theater in Cascais will take us on a journey back in time, when this theater was the stage for important cultural events in the town, such as concerts and plays by artists from Lisbon and even amateur plays. The venue thus became one of the most emblematic socializing spaces in the municipality, especially for high society “bathing” in Cascais, which often benefited from the presence of the Royal Family.
