Remembering Hiroshima: story time and origami workshop
The city of Hiroshima honours its tragic past with respect but also celebrates life and the natural world around it. During the Second World War, the city was struck by an atomic bomb that almost destroyed it. Sadako Sasaki was one of the many children who fell ill due to radiation and, according to a Japanese legend, tried to fold a thousand tsurus in the hope of being cured.
Letโs discover her story and learn how to make tsurus, the origami that represents the beautiful Manchurian cranes that fly over Hiroshima and are a symbol of good luck, health and happiness.
