Remembering Hiroshima: Storytime and Origami Workshop
Hiroshima honours its tragic past with respect while also celebrating life and the natural world that surrounds it. During World War II, the city was struck by an atomic bomb that almost completely destroyed it. Sadako Sasaki was one of many children who became ill due to radiation exposure and, following a Japanese legend, set out to fold one thousand paper cranes in the hope of being healed.
Join us to discover her story and learn how to fold tsurus, the origami cranes inspired by the graceful red-crowned cranes that fly over Hiroshima and symbolise good fortune, health and happiness.
Target audience: Children aged 7 and over.
Free participation, registration requiredhere.
Organised by: Cascais City Council
