Resistance and Freedom
Description
The Resistance and Freedom Tour in Cascais shows the history of some of the most emblematic places for the study of resistance to the Estado Novo from 1943 to 1974. Despite intense persecution by the political police, during this period Cascais hosted a very active network of clandestine houses used by the Portuguese Communist Party and the Armed Forces Movement, which was responsible for the 25 April Revolution.
