Ark of Time
The dance performance โArk of Timeโ celebrates the 20th anniversary of the โDancing to Helpโ project, created by Sandra Sofia Santos. In this performance, the audience is invited to open a treasure chest of memories, from which choreographies and emotions are brought to life. In a moving journey through time, the stories of a mother watching her daughter grow up and a teacher seeing her project come to life intertwine.
Dancing to Help | This is a charitable arts project that has been running for 20 years and uses dance as a tool for social transformation, personal development and community engagement. It takes place annually in the form of a dance performance, with the proceeds going to a charity.
The project provides the pupils with stage experience and a behind-the-scenes insight into a professional event, fostering artistic, academic and social skills. It involves professional dancers, technical staff, families and local partners, strengthening cooperation and volunteering.
In addition to the direct social impact on the organisations it supports, the project promotes dance as an active art form within the community, encourages civic engagement and fosters access to culture in a variety of contexts. Over the course of two decades, โDancing to Helpโ has established itself as a sustainable initiative with a strong educational, artistic and social impact, which continues to innovate and grow with each edition.
