BRIEF COURSE IN CASCAIS HISTORY Introduction to Iconography: What do images tell us?
Iconography is a subject with a very broad scope and the aim of these 'conversations on iconography', around the question “What do images tell us?”, is above all to arouse interest and curiosity in this area of study, which is one of the multiple aspects of visual culture.
The aim of this course, taught by Ana Paula Correia, is to make the reading of Christian, mythological and allegorical images/narratives accessible, and to familiarize participants with the methods and tools of iconographic research needed to identify, decode and read figures and narrative programs, with reference to the images of Cascais' artistic heritage, also contributing to their dissemination and the importance of their preservation.
