“Fernando Lopes-Graça, portraits of a composer”
Augusto Cabrita (1923-1993) photographed Fernando Lopes-Graça at a moment of great significance in his life, the completion of “Requiem pelas vítimas do fascismo em Portugal”.
Taken at the composer's home, the reportage is made up of a set of black and white images, alluding to the work commissioned by the Secretary of State for Culture, at the author's proposal, and premiered in Portugal in 1981.
Augusto Cabrita said “photography is a natural look” and it happens when life is suspended and eternal. It is this gaze that we wish to share with the public, in the year that marks the 30th anniversary of Fernando Lopes-Graça's death and the 50th anniversary of April 25th.
The exhibition includes documentation from the composer's collection relating to the world premiere of “Requiem pelas vítimas do fascismo em Portugal”.
