Description

OPENING: June 7th at 4pm

This exhibition is inspired by an Angolan performance, in which a character materializes and interacts, horizontally using different languages, verbal and non-verbal, to poetically express an idea of unity based on plurality. The journey is fundamentally inward, a solo walk that is mirrored in the repetition of elements and their apparent symmetry.

The materials explored create symbolic affinities, composing a discourse that complements itself in the unfolding of each image. A series of encounters, confrontations and re-encounters of the multiple that inhabit us. Accepting the diversity of cultures that are built on a humanist basis is a way of getting to know ourselves by critically distancing ourselves from the habits and customs we have adopted, because it allows us to review, simulate, experiment and potentially renew.ย

Tiago Serpa was born in Lisbon in 1984. Painting, drawing and collages have been the materialization of thoughts, reflections and proposals about the world through which he strives for a dignified existence. He studied painting at Northbrook College of Brigthon University, where he was awarded the Anthony Amies Award 2008. Master's student in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Associate artist-teacher at Mapa - Associaรงรฃo Cultural. He has been exhibiting since 2003.
