Description

On the themed visit Women of the Sea: Tides of Strength,ย participants will learn about the central role of women in the coastal identity of Cascais and in the silent, yet powerful, construction of local community life.
Guardians of traditional knowledge, mediators between the sea and the land, and protagonists of a daily life marked by resilience, the fishmongers represent an organic form of democracy: one that arises from mutual support, sharing, and the active occupation of public space.

As part of the celebration of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, April 18, and Cascais as European Capital of Democracy, this visit aims to honor the women who, over the last 100 years, have helped create a vibrant, inclusive, and plural social fabric in Cascais.
