Lynch & Brooks Film Series - An Unlikely Collaboration
The D. Luรญs I Foundation, in collaboration with the Cascais City Council, is presenting a film series dedicated to directors David Lynch and Mel Brooks at the Carlos Avilez Auditorium of the Estoril Academy of Arts (formerly the Cruzeiro Building). Admission is free.
The Lynch & Brooks Film Cycle - An Improbable Collaboration pays tribute to David Lynch, who died unexpectedly on January 16, and celebrates the longevity of Mel Brooks, who has just turned 99. A unique opportunity to discover or revisit the works of these two masters of cinema.
Mel Brooks was already an established filmmaker when he produced The Elephant Man (1980), David Lynch's acclaimed second film, through Brooksfilms, the production company he founded that same year, with the aim of producing films, mainly dramas, different from the comedies associated with his usual signature: a Mel Brooks film.
