Visit to the Cascais Marégrafo
The Cascais Marégrafo will be open on Saturday, May 17, as part of the International Museum Day celebrations.
The Marégrafo de Cascais was one of the first European observatories dedicated to the study of currents and tides and is the only one in the world that is still in perfect working order today, with continuous recordings since 1882.
In addition to this function, the Cascais Marégrafo also marks the altimetric zero of mainland Portugal, the point from which the altitudes of our territory are measured.
The visits will be accompanied by the person in charge of the Marégrafo, José Campos, and last approximately 45 minutes.
