Hospital de Sant'Ana
Description

Classified as a Monument of Public Interest, the Hospital de Sant'Ana (HOSA), in Parede, is one of the most interesting buildings in the municipality of Cascais due to its innovative architecture, its decorative arts, its ventilation structure and its chapel with neo-Byzantine references.

Opened in 1904, its long history goes hand in hand with the history of Portugal and Portuguese medicine, particularly in the fight against bone tuberculosis and, later, in the development of orthopaedics. The Sant'Ana Sanatorium was a charitable work of a Catholic nature, initiated by the Biester couple and carried out by Claudina Chamiço.
