10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations
The Alliance of Civilizations was created in July 2005, following the initiative of the governments of Spain and Turkey, under the auspices of the United Nations. The Alliance of Civilizations.
The Alliance aims to examine the state of relations between different contemporary societies, their global visions and the mutual perceptions that shape these relations, particularly focusing on Western and Muslim societies.
It aims to be an informal alliance of a political rather than religious or cultural nature, a global and long-term alliance, with concrete and practical measures and geared towards action.
Its aim is to promote collective action in different societies in order to combat extremism, overcome cultural and social barriers between the Western and Islamic worlds and reduce tensions and polarization between societies with different cultural and religious values. It has an important security component, given the threat of confrontation between the West and Islam and the Middle East.
