Launch of the book “Klimmy - The Blue Boy”, by Samuel Caldeira and Mena Pitto
“Klimmy - The Blue Boy” is a comic book that is not just a fictional narrative, but a powerful tool for raising awareness and education about one of the most pressing issues of our time: climate change. Samuel created and illustrated the characters and structured the storyboard. Mena developed much of the text and collaborated on the final artwork.
The book will be presented by Luís Bernardino, a contributor to Central Comics and a commentator on Antena 1's “Pranchas e Balões” podcast. The session will also feature the participation of the Outeirense Recreational Society's Jograis Group.
About the authors: Samuel Caldeira and Mena Pitto have been united in their lives since 1986. They live in Cascais. They were both professionals in the field of technical design, more specifically in telecommunications design. Samuel, passionate about cinematographic art and comics, later graduated in Multimedia Engineering. Mena, fond of freehand drawing, attended some drawing and painting workshops with a focus on restoration. Now retired, they have gathered some of the knowledge of a lifetime and created this book, addressing a topic of great importance and unfortunately very current, climate change.
Fun fact: The authors will appear live on the program “A nossa tarde”, on RTP1, with Tânia Ribas de Oliveira, which will air on November 15, at 15:24.
