Description

ENVOLVE-TE - Cultural and Educational Services Programme

This activity takes place as part of the IV Edition of the Printmaking Workshop Exhibition ‘I took refuge in the print room’, by Paula Rego, which marks three events during the 2024/2025 school year: the museum's 15th anniversary (in September 2024), the 10th anniversary of the Museum Quarter (in February 2025) and the extended celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974, with the closure of this Workshop Exhibition on the 27th of April 2025.

> Families (from 5 years old) | Saturdays | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. | Participation free, subject to capacity and the museum's ticket office.

Prints produced using matrices made from recycled materials such as fabric, plastic and cardboard.
Taking advantage of the different surfaces and textures of found materials, the print is constructed by cutting out, overlapping and gluing shapes onto a cardboard base. The relief drawing can be printed multiple times on paper using an engraving press. [Madalena Parreira]

> ‘A Rabbit in a Hat’ | 9th November 2024 (registration until 6th November)
In this workshop we'll find animal shapes hidden in packaging. Using scissors and glue, we'll release the creatures and learn how to reveal their presence using etching techniques.

> ‘Between Valleys and Mountains’ | 7th December 2024 (registration until 4th December)
In this workshop we will explore the creation of images using relief printing techniques. We'll see how ink behaves on the surfaces of materials such as paper, cardboard, fabrics and plastics. We'll learn how to use mountains and valleys to create the most surprising prints.

> ‘Dressed to the nines’ | 5th January 2025 (registration until 1st January)
Is there a right way to crease paper? In this workshop we'll discover how to create a wardrobe out of folded and crumpled paper. Skirts, jackets, shirts and hats, we'll use monotype to create a catalogue of original outfits.

> ‘Between Light and Shadow’ | 8th February 2025 (registration until 5th February)
In this workshop we'll work on light and shadow in printmaking using smooth, textured and masked materials. We'll make the ink pass or not pass onto the paper, generating images full of light and shadow.

> ‘One Colour at a Time?’ | 2nd March 2025 (registration until 26th February)
In this workshop we'll produce colour prints from reliefs, using colour inking techniques that go beyond traditional layering. We'll take advantage of the characteristics of different inks to obtain surprising images full of colour.

> ‘Scissor Typography’ | 6th April 2025 (registration until 2nd April)
In this workshop we'll create posters with important messages using scissors and paper. We'll use roller printing techniques to spread our message.
