Description

In 2023, there were 17 female victims of voluntary homicide in Portugal in the context of domestic violence. This exhibition aims to honor these women and raise awareness of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, established by UN Resolution 52/134 on November 25.

Violence is defined as any gender-based violent act that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering, including threats of such acts, coercion or deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life.

It will be worth visiting this bio-bibliographical exhibition, where you'll find a series of panels with definitions, concepts and various testimonies related to the topic, and the screening of a short video made as part of the “it's not accepted, period” campaign and based on a real testimony. You'll also find a selection of themed books, available to borrow from the Cascais Municipal Libraries.

As part of the exhibition's parallel program, on November 26, starting at 10:30 a.m., there will be a meeting between high school students and professionals in the field, namely Cátia Assunção, author of the book “Get out of bed”.
