SUGGIA - CONCERT FOR TWO CELLOS, by ISABEL MILLET
Brief Introduction
โSUGGIA - Concerto para dois violoncelosโ is a show staged by Rita Calรงada Bastos based on a text written by Isabel Millet, an actress and writer who is intimately familiar with the life of Guilhermina Suggia, the world-famous Portuguese cellist.
Synopsis
A text that has never been performed before, it was chosen as part of TEC's mission to present new texts from national dramaturgy and to talk about personalities with international repercussions, such as Guilhermina Suggia and Pablo Casals.
We're talking about an exercise in memory of Guilhermina Suggia, a Portuguese cellist with a unique charisma, who, just a few days before her death, recalled some of the most remarkable moments of her life, leading the audience to immerse themselves in her tempestuous love story with Pablo Casals. To represent these two major and unavoidable figures in the history of world music, there will be three actresses playing Guilhermina Suggia (Sara Matos, Teresa Cรดrte-Real and Beatriz Almeida) and actor Pedro Lacerda playing Pablo Casals.
To the sound of Bach, played live by cellist Beatriz Almeida, Memory, Music and Nerve will underpin the dramaturgical proposal for this show: The celebration of Love as the last breath of Life.
