Two Points Education - Show by Trimagisto
But what is education anyway? More difficult still, how do we educate? These questions are the main theme of this informal theatre concert with Carlos Marques, alone on stage, reflecting on the state of education.
2019 saw the premiere of the show ‘No fio do azeite’, which featured little Olivia, aged 6, on a day of a teachers' strike. As he made his way to pick her up from school, her father reflected on the history and aims of the education system, comparing it to an intensive olive grove, and reimagined himself as a primary school pupil. Time passed and ‘Dois Pontos Educação’ is the natural sequel to that show. Olívia is now 16 and a teenager, and her father, Carlos Marques, finds himself alone on stage to create a show that continues to reflect on education. It looks back, bringing back collective and individual memories: what has stayed with us from our school days, its content, teachers, classmates, family and the community in which we live?
The audience is also given a voice to discuss the meaning of school in their lives.
