Fado Street, in Cascais
The Fado Street project in Cascais marks the return of fado to the public sphere, restoring to the town one of the most profound cultural expressions of Portuguese identity through free concerts open to everyone.
Cascais has always been a land of fado, having welcomed great figures from Portuguese history such as Amรกlia Rodrigues, Carlos Zel and Manuel de Almeida.
Honouring this legacy, the new voices of this art form โ recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity โ will resonate through various historic venues in the town of Cascais, from 28 June to 13 September.
More than just a musical programme, this project aims to create an accessible, regular cultural experience that celebrates local identity, fostering encounters between residents, tourists and the local community.ย
