“The Forgotten Boys”, pela Tokyo Opera Association.
The Carlos Avilez Auditorium at the Estoril Academy of Arts (formerly the Cruzeiro Building) is hosting the opera “The Forgotten Boys” by the Tokyo Opera Association. The show celebrates the 440th anniversary of the arrival of the first four young Japanese Christians in Lisbon.
Mancio Iyo, Miguel Chijiwa, Julião Nakaura and Martinho Hara docked in Lisbon to explore Europe and present themselves to Pope Gregory XIII in Rome. They visited Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Évora and Coimbra and were received in a festive atmosphere. The trip then continued through Spain to Italy.
The opera, with music by Minao Shibata, is directed by Edward Ishita and features the special participation of the Youth Choir of the Gregorian Institute of Lisbon, conducted by Filipa Palhares.
The show is part of the program of the 50th Estoril Lisboa Festival.
Admission is free, but subject to capacity and by invitation, available at the venue on the day of the performance.
